A youth and maid upon a summer night

It chanced upon a certain day,
When cheerful Summer, bright and gay,

How sweet to be thus nestling deep in boughs,
Upon an ashen stoven pillowing me;

So thickly the leafy armies gather round;

Full many a flower, too, wishing to be seen,
Perks up its head the hiding grass between,--
