Frances Miriam Whitcher

Frances Miriam Whitcher was an American writer and humorist, known for her wit and satirical style. She married B. Whitcher, a preacher, and incorporated experiences from his parish into her work. Her most famous character, Widow Bedott, became a popular figure in 19th-century American literature with the series 'The Widow Bedott Papers.' She is considered one of the early American female humorists.
